Job Overview
This position is exclusively open to current Correctional Case Management employees within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS). Position Responsibilities
- Deliver direct reentry services to incarcerated individuals on the 273-day release list.
- Create tailored transition and release plans for each individual.
- Manage coordination of reentry-related programs within the facility.
- Link incarcerated persons with community resources including housing, mental health, substance abuse treatment, job training, correctional education, and identification assistance.
- Prepare individual resource plans aligning with release discharge requirements.
- Organize monthly group orientation sessions when applicable.
- Conduct detailed reentry assessment interviews.
- Facilitate referrals to both internal departments and external community stakeholders.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to arrange necessary transitional services.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations.
- Engage external providers for onsite facility resource fairs.
- Coordinate facility Reentry Resource Fairs collaborating with directors, regional and facility representatives, parole divisions, and other partners to foster participation.
- Accurately input assessment data into shared databases (OCMS and SharePoint) within prescribed timelines according to Reentry Manual guidelines.
- Perform any other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Three years of experience assessing inmates' security risks and program needs to determine accurate security classifications and create program plans.
- Substitutions for experience include: one year as a Correctional Officer, Correctional Dietary Officer, Maintenance Officer, or Supply Officer counts as one year experience; or U.S. Armed Forces military service as a commissioned correctional officer counts two years military for one year experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of DPSCS correctional training academy.
- Experience delivering direct reentry services and crafting individualized release resource plans.
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must meet Maryland Correctional Training Commission standards including age, citizenship status, background check, oral interview, and physical exam.
- Possession of a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license if duties require vehicle operation.
- Compliance with state-mandated substance abuse testing.
