Role Overview

This full-time position is based at the Maryland Department of Health's St. Mary's County Health Department in Leonardtown, MD. Located within the Behavioral Health Division, the role focuses on providing referrals, outreach, and training related to substance use, mental health conditions, homelessness, and overall health concerns affecting the local community. The coordinator will primarily serve as a Behavioral Health consultant specializing in older adults within the southern Maryland region. Key duties include facilitating initial and continuous training programs organized by the Behavioral Health Administration's Office of Older Adults and Long-Term Services and Supports, supporting nursing facility diversion efforts, acting as a liaison and consultant in behavioral health matters, and contributing to workforce development activities.

Qualifications

Applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school or have an equivalent certificate. At least one year of professional experience in coordinating health-related programs or directing individuals to governmental and private resources is required. Alternatively, candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours for the required experience or use U.S. Armed Forces military service as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration or related Civil Affairs roles as equivalent experience and education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience in managing care coordination, ideally for older adult populations.
• Familiarity with community services catering to individuals with behavioral health needs, with an emphasis on older adults.
