About the Role

This opportunity is to join a partner company’s legal team in Canada, focusing on contract management, compliance protocols, and refining legal operations. The role bridges legal expertise with operational duties to support the company’s growth through effective handling of commercial agreements, compliance tracking, insurance coordination, and policy development.

Working closely with senior legal leaders and cross-functional groups, the position demands meticulous attention to detail, sound decision-making, and the capacity to independently juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, amend, and negotiate NDAs and routine commercial contracts, escalating more complex issues with clear analysis and advice.
  • Maintain and enhance contract templates, clause libraries, procedural playbooks, and overall contract management workflows.
  • Monitor contracts from inception through renewals ensuring obligations and deadlines are met on schedule.
  • Act as primary liaison for client procurement compliance matters including onboarding questionnaires, audits, certifications, and recurring compliance documentation.
  • Create repeatable processes, forms, and documentation aimed at increasing compliance operations efficiency.
  • Assist in corporate compliance initiatives, regulatory tracking, and implementation of internal policies.
  • Review insurance requirements within contracts and collaborate with brokers to secure certificates and policy documents, identifying potential coverage gaps or unusual terms.
  • Develop, revise, and uphold internal policies covering data privacy, security, acceptable use, and workplace standards.
  • Partner with business units to align policies with operational needs ensuring effective implementation.
  • Support legal operations including special projects and litigation assistance such as document gathering and liaising with external counsel when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree; legal education such as paralegal certification, law degree, or related credentials are highly preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in legal operations, contract and compliance management, or similar paralegal roles.
  • Proven ability to review and negotiate commercial contracts including NDAs and vendor agreements.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks, procurement protocols, vendor management, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience drafting and applying internal policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency with contract lifecycle management software, document systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong attention to detail ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in legal documentation.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills with practical solution recommendations.
  • Capability to work autonomously, handle competing priorities, and appropriately escalate issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with legal teams, vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and initiative in owning new processes and driving continuous operational improvements.

Preferred Credentials

  • Certified paralegal credentials such as CP, ACP, RP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in professional services, technology, consulting, or corporate legal sectors.
  • Understanding of privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
  • Background in enhancing legal workflows, operational processes, or contract platform implementations.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted legal tools and contract lifecycle management systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance documentation processes and common coverage types including general liability, errors and omissions, and cyber insurance.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary range between 120000 and 160000 CAD annually.
  • Full-time role within a cooperative legal and business environment.
  • Engagement with senior legal leaders and meaningful impact on operational legal initiatives.
  • Flexible working options with preference for presence at the Downtown Toronto office, though remote work may be accommodated.
  • Opportunity to gain broad exposure across contracts, compliance frameworks, and legal technology.
  • Supportive culture encouraging professional development, ownership, and process enhancements.
