Position Overview

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for a permanent full-time Consultant Rheumatologist to join our district-wide Rheumatology Service based at Hutt, Wellington, Kenepuru, and Masterton Hospitals. This role, engaged for 40 hours per week, offers a chance to contribute to a multidisciplinary team committed to patient-centred care and clinical excellence, supporting patients across the greater Wellington region.

About the Service

Our Rheumatology team provides comprehensive care focusing on active disease management and collaborative decision-making with patients. The service aims to control symptoms, prevent joint and organ damage, reduce disability, and promote long-term health and wellbeing. Services include outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and coverage on the acute on-call roster. The team comprises seven rheumatologists and five nurses, with a particular focus on expanding musculoskeletal ultrasound capabilities.

Candidate Profile

  • Vocational registration in Internal Medicine specializing in Rheumatology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
  • FRACP qualification or an equivalent credential allowing vocational registration with the MCNZ.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to deliver consistently high standards of medical care in rheumatology.
  • Relevant professional experience and training in the specialty.
