Position Overview
We are seeking a Compliance Services Officer to join our Regulatory Services division. This engaging and impactful role involves ensuring community safety by enforcing a range of local laws related to Animal Management, Planning, and other compliance areas. The position is full-time on a maximum term basis from August 2026 to September 2027, located at Officer, Victoria, and may occasionally require work outside normal hours to support events and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver efficient compliance services related to Local Laws, Animal Management, Asset Protection, Building Site Compliance, and Planning Enforcement activities.
- Engage with the community through field presence, front counter services, and telephone support to manage complex inquiries and issues.
- Educate residents, businesses, and construction stakeholders on relevant legislation and Council policies.
- Adopt proactive enforcement strategies to uphold public safety and address violations.
- Manage both reactive and proactive enforcement including parking, traffic, littering, building site compliance, and animal control.
Candidate Requirements
- Thorough understanding of applicable laws such as the Local Laws, Domestic Animals Act, Planning and Environment Act, Environment Protection Act, Local Government Act, and Road Rules with proven ability to interpret and enforce them.
- Exceptional customer service aptitude combined with advanced conflict resolution capabilities.
- Competence and humane approach in handling domestic animals and livestock ensuring safety.
- Knowledge and adherence to health and safety policies focused on reducing workplace risks.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with the statutory planning process, including relevant policies and planning schemes.
- Possession of a valid Victorian driver's license.

Compensation and Additional Information
The remuneration package ranges from $79,608 to $98,460 annually, plus superannuation and includes a monthly day off. This role is full-time on a maximum term contract from August 2026 to September 2027 based at Officer, Victoria.
