Job description
Role summary
This position is accountable for leading the assessment of major compliance-related risks, including the development of internal reporting and risk indicators across the organization. The role focuses on identifying and evaluating compliance risks, preparing key risk indicators for the General Administration of Governance and Compliance, updating departmental KPIs, and producing reports for senior leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the preparation of the General Administration of Governance and Compliance work plan and ensure alignment with the Authority’s overall strategy.
- Build the department’s operational plan in line with the governance and compliance work plan and the legal and compliance sector strategy.
- Execute approved plans and provide the inputs needed to achieve departmental objectives that support the Authority’s broader strategic goals.
- Discuss budget requirements with senior management and support the budgeting process with relevant inputs.
- Ensure the department’s budget is used effectively and report progress and challenges accurately.
- Review proposed initiatives and recommend those that can generate positive financial outcomes while reducing financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
- Participate in workshops with relevant Authority departments to understand current processes and activities, and gather insights on possible compliance risks that may disrupt operations.
- Oversee the creation of a comprehensive register of events, conditions, or situations that may affect the Authority’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Help standardize, consolidate, and categorize risks according to predefined risk types.
- Lead the identification of compliance risk sources, impact areas, and potential events, including related causes and effects through in-depth root cause analysis.
- Drive the development and annual refresh of a comprehensive compliance risk heat map to assess likelihood and impact on Authority operations.
- Lead the annual development and updating of key compliance risk indicators to define risk tolerance and monitor adherence to, or breaches of, established tolerance thresholds.
- Review mitigation plans aligned with the compliance risk assessment and propose improvements based on best practices.
- Evaluate reporting frameworks used within the scope of governance and compliance, including report templates and tools, and follow up on implementation.
- Integrate and update the Authority’s KPIs for all departments and units within governance and compliance based on input from relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare consolidated reports for the General Administration of Governance and Compliance, combining submissions from all individual departments.
- Lead annual efforts to capture lessons learned, identify improvement opportunities, and update departmental documentation for future risk assessments and reporting.
- Take part in identifying and hiring key talent.
- Coach, guide, and support direct reports to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with established processes and policies.
- Set individual performance goals, provide ongoing support, evaluate the team, and continuously share performance feedback.
- Build a high-performance work environment and reinforce the Authority’s values.
Qualifications and requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or an equivalent field is required.
- A master’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related equivalent is preferred.
