Job description
About the organisation
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) is entering an ambitious period focused on improving leadership, governance and organisational performance. Its guiding aim is “Healthier Together – Delivering Exceptional Care for All,” supported by the DBTH Way and the organisation’s values and behaviours of We Care.
DBTH is one of Yorkshire’s leading acute trusts, supporting a population of more than 440,000 across three main hospital sites and a number of additional services. The organisation employs over 7,000 colleagues.
Role overview
DBTH is looking for a confident and experienced Company Secretary to provide expert governance leadership and help strengthen the Trust’s corporate governance arrangements. The post sits close to the centre of the organisation and will support the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and Executive Team.
The successful candidate will be calm, credible and forward-looking, with strong attention to detail and the ability to earn trust from board members, governors and colleagues across the Trust. The role also involves leading a small team and working accurately in a demanding, fast-moving environment.
What you will do
You will work alongside the Chair, Chief Executive, Board of Directors and Council of Governors to help ensure the Trust meets all legal, constitutional and regulatory duties required of a Foundation Trust.
You will provide clear, professional advice on governance and legislative issues, and you will contribute directly to the effectiveness of the Board and Council by helping shape leadership and decision-making across the organisation.
Working arrangements and additional information
DBTH supports flexible working and encourages candidates to discuss arrangements that could work for both the service and the individual.
The Trust is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all parts of the community, particularly from under-represented groups, including people with disabilities, ethnic minority communities and LGBTQ+ applicants.
For an informal discussion, candidates may contact Lauren Butterfield, Executive PA to the Chair and Chief Executive, on 01302 644153.
Benefits
DBTH offers a range of employee benefits including learning opportunities, the NHS Pension Scheme, holiday entitlement in line with Terms & Conditions, health and wellbeing support, NHS Car Lease schemes, salary sacrifice options, and discounts on restaurants, getaways, shopping and finance through external providers.
