Job Description

This role involves performing responsible social work duties under the guidance and supervision of a designated supervisor. The work is evaluated through various methods including observations, conferences, reports, and achieved outcomes.

Primary Duties

  • Offer information and referral services relating to general assistance, counseling, medical aid, and mental health support.
  • Create and monitor individual or family case plans to meet established goals and advise on the continuation or conclusion of services.
  • Assess eligibility of applicants for programs and financial assistance by conducting screenings and interviews, including evaluations.
  • Refer clients to appropriate services and agencies, both governmental and nonprofit.
  • Participate in staff meetings and consult with supervisors regarding challenging cases.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, prepare reports and correspondence, and keep associated records as per policies.
  • Conduct home visits and investigations to verify home environment and progress toward case goals, supplementing interview information.
  • Develop and coordinate prevention and outreach efforts within the community.
  • Undertake additional related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) with no prior experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Counseling, Psychology, Behavioral or Health Sciences, Human Services, Mental Health, or a related field with at least one year of experience in social services. Relevant experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Must demonstrate at least intermediate proficiency with word processing, preferably Microsoft Word, and email used for communication.

A valid Florida Driver's License may be required along with providing a personal vehicle for some job-related tasks.

Salary and Benefits

Pay Grade 013 with a salary range from $21.51 to $24.74 per hour. This is a non-exempt position with compensation commensurate with education and experience.
