Corlann West delivers a community-centred, person-focused service dedicated to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The service's mission is to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling and valued lives within their communities, adhering to both national and international best practices. The services operate in alignment with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, following internal policies, Personal Outcome Measures, and the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015.

Fáilte Community Services offers a variety of community-oriented supports across Galway City and County. Supporting individuals in their homes, community settings, outreach centres, employment, education, or tailored programs, the services focus on adults with intellectual disabilities, including those with mental health challenges and autism. Assistance is provided to help individuals live independently, make informed decisions, manage relationships, access education, employment, and community activities.

Role Overview

The Community Outreach Facilitator plays a vital role in supporting individuals through key-working, advocacy, skills development, community integration, and promoting health and wellbeing. Key responsibilities include liaising with external agencies, providing daily living support, education and employment assistance, and developing strong community connections by engaging with local organizations, clubs, educational bodies, and service providers.

This position requires independence, proactive initiative, and a person-centred approach to foster community participation and integration for the people supported by Fáilte Community Services. Designated duties must be carried out in accordance with Corlann policies while contributing as an active and collaborative team member.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• Applicants must have a minimum of QQI Level 6 qualification or higher in fields related to Social Care, Child Care, Therapy Assistance, Community Development, Creative Digital Media, Creative Arts, or Arts and Design.
• Prior experience designing and implementing programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred; training will be provided.
• A minimum of 1-2 years' practical experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, and challenging behaviors is required.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is essential.
• Applicants from outside the EU must possess valid work permits.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are mandatory.
• A full, clean Class B driving licence is required.
• Experience in housing, addiction, or mental health support sectors is advantageous.

Work Schedule and Benefits

• The role involves working 78 hours over each fortnight, including days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Flexibility is essential to meet the service’s needs.
• Annual leave entitlement is 23 days per year (pro-rata for part-time).
• Salary is according to the Department of Health Instructor/Supervisor scales as of 01/06/2026, ranging from €36,291 (starting) to €52,406 (max), pro-rated for part-time hours. Incremental credit may be given for prior public sector service.
• Additional payments apply for unsociable hours, weekend, public holiday, and night duties when applicable.
• The appointment is permanent, full-time, and pensionable; this posting is part-time.
• The position carries a nine-month probation period with possible extension at the employer’s discretion.

Additional Information

• The successful candidate must provide their own vehicle and provide insurance indemnity in favor of the employer. Travel expenses related to work duties will be reimbursed.
• Fáilte House in Ballybane, Galway, is the base location, but this may change according to operational needs.
• The role includes driving service vehicles as needed.
• The individuals supported have highlighted the importance of a candidate who passionately advocates for their rights and shows consistent respect.
