Job description

About the Company

Statkraft is a leading European producer of renewable electricity from hydro, wind, and solar sources. The organisation has about 6,500 people across 20 countries and has supported the transition to clean energy for more than 130 years. Its long-term ambition is a world powered completely by renewable energy.

Role Overview

The company is growing in several European markets and is hiring a Community Liaison Officer to support its Communications and Stakeholder Management function while projects in Ireland move through development. This position focuses on the project delivery side of major wind and solar developments, from early-stage work through to operations, and reports to the Head of Communications and Stakeholder Management, Ireland.

The role can be based in Cork or Tullamore, Ireland, and requires regular engagement with local communities and stakeholders across the country.

What You'll Do

  • Act as the primary contact point for communities affected by renewable energy developments, keeping them informed during pre-development and development stages and collecting input on proposals.
  • Work closely with project development teams and the stakeholder manager while engaging with local people and community groups.
  • Represent Statkraft positively and help build trust and credibility for the company and its projects.
  • Learn the needs and dynamics of each community so engagement can be tailored in a practical and meaningful way.
  • Build durable relationships with community members, groups, and other local stakeholders.
  • Spot opportunities for community benefit through collaboration with local stakeholders.
  • Share project information with communities and gather suggestions for improvements.
  • Choose the most effective communication channels for each community through local engagement.
  • Create communications content with project teams, including leaflets, booklets, websites, social media updates, and project progress communications.
  • Handle feedback received during development, respond appropriately, and make sure follow-up actions are communicated back to the person who raised them.
  • Keep accurate engagement records and advise project teams on community priorities and individual concerns.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to speak with people individually and in group settings.
  • Prior experience in a similar role involving work with local communities, along with confident use of SharePoint, Microsoft applications, and general IT systems.
  • Good understanding of community dynamics and the ability to work effectively with community organisations.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and collaborate with stakeholders to help deliver them.
  • Strong interest in renewables and decarbonisation, with a clear commitment to supporting the social acceptance of renewable infrastructure in Ireland.
  • Practical, proactive, and solution-focused approach with the ability to deliver quality work on schedule.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong influencing, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the energy to work to deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet communities.
  • Full, clean Irish driving licence.
  • Experience updating websites is beneficial.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Applicants must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation due to the company's management of critical infrastructure and services in several countries.

Additional Information

  • This position offers the opportunity to contribute to renewable energy and support the transition to a low-emission society.
  • Employees can expect professional and personal growth in a dynamic global company.
  • The workplace culture is described as competent, responsible, innovative, and commercially focused.
  • The organisation promotes diversity across gender, age, and cultural background.
  • Employment terms and benefits are competitive.
  • There are learning and career development opportunities at multiple levels within the organisation.
  • The role offers the chance to grow within an international network of experts, leaders, specialists, and graduates.
  • Hybrid working is available.
