Job description

Role overview

Statkraft is a major European renewable energy producer with operations across hydro, wind, and solar power. The company has about 6,500 people working in 20 countries and has supported the transition to clean energy for more than 130 years. Its long-term aim is to help create a world powered entirely by renewable energy.

The organisation is growing in several European markets and is hiring a Community Liaison Officer to join its Communications and Stakeholder Management team as renewable energy projects in Ireland move through the development stage. This position supports the delivery of large wind and solar projects from early development through to operations, and reports to the Head of Communications and Stakeholder Management, Ireland. The role is based in Cork or Tullamore, Ireland, and requires regular meetings with local communities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main contact point for local communities connected to renewable energy projects being developed across Ireland.
  • Share project information and updates with communities during the pre-development and development stages, while also collecting feedback on proposals from individuals and groups.
  • Assist the Project Development Teams and Stakeholder Manager in community engagement activities.
  • Represent Statkraft positively and help build trust and a strong reputation within local areas.
  • Learn the needs, priorities, and dynamics of each community and shape engagement approaches accordingly.
  • Build lasting working relationships with local individuals and community groups.
  • Spot opportunities for community benefit and help create value through collaboration with local stakeholders.
  • Communicate renewable energy project details clearly and gather views on possible improvements.
  • Choose the most effective ways to communicate with each community through local engagement.
  • Prepare communication content with project teams, including leaflets, booklets, websites, social media content, project progress updates, and similar materials.
  • Track and manage feedback received during project development, respond appropriately, and ensure follow-up actions are shared with the person who raised the issue.
  • Keep accurate engagement records and advise project teams on community interests and individual aspirations.

Requirements

  • Strong communication ability with experience engaging effectively with people one-to-one and in groups.
  • Previous work in a similar community-focused role, along with strong working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft applications, and general IT systems.
  • Good understanding of how communities operate and the ability to work productively with community groups.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and collaborate with different stakeholders to turn them into outcomes.
  • Genuine interest in renewables and decarbonisation, with a strong commitment to improving social acceptance of renewable energy infrastructure in Ireland.
  • Proactive, practical, and solution-focused, with a track record of delivering quality work on time.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong influencing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, an energetic approach, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to community meetings as needed.
  • Full clean Irish driving licence.
  • Experience updating websites would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
