Job description
Role Overview
Ventia is currently seeking qualified Communication Technicians specializing in Inside Plant to provide essential support for critical infrastructure within the power network. This position emphasizes work with low voltage power systems and communications apparatus in controlled settings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install and commission low-voltage DC power systems, including performing battery tests and upkeep
- Deploy and commission transmission systems such as OTN, MPLS, SDH, and PDH
- Conduct testing and commissioning of inside plant communications equipment
- Perform fault diagnostics and troubleshooting on both communication and DC power systems
- Carry out installation, splicing, and termination of copper and fiber optic cabling
- Review, interpret, and update technical schematics, diagrams, and drawings
- Work at heights when required, with relevant experience considered advantageous
- Electrical registration is preferred
Candidate Profile
- Technically skilled with a strong focus on safety and experience in critical infrastructure, power, or telecommunications environments
- Proficient in installing and commissioning low voltage power plants
- Knowledgeable in battery systems and testing methodologies
- Familiarity with protection systems is a plus
- Experienced in fiber optic splicing and installation tasks
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Physically fit with the capacity to perform ladder work
- Team-oriented and committed to maintaining safe working conditions
