Overview
Leesworth Pty Ltd is seeking skilled Meter Technicians for a significant water meter upgrade initiative across Greater Sydney. This project is managed for a leading water utility with Downer as the main contractor, and Leesworth is responsible for the meter installations. The role involves replacing traditional manual water meters with advanced digital, radio-enabled smart meters.
Job Functions
- Remove old water meters and install new digital, radio-communicating smart meters.
- Conduct testing and commissioning to confirm correct device operation and data transmission.
- Log installation and job details efficiently using mobile apps or tablets.
- Provide excellent on-site customer communication in a professional and polite manner.
- Maintain strict adherence to workplace health and safety (WH&S) protocols and site guidelines.
- Organize and manage daily work routes independently while reporting progress to the coordination team.
Work Schedule and Compensation
This position offers flexibility with work hours between 7am and 7pm, allowing you to choose your schedule. Compensation is performance-based, calculated per installed meter with no earning limits. Determined technicians can increase earnings based on productivity without waiting for salary adjustments.
Qualifications
- Must hold or be willing to obtain an Australian Business Number (ABN), registration is free and quick with support provided.
- Legally eligible to work in Australia.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
- Reliable personal vehicle (preferably a van or utility vehicle).
- Basic computer skills for data input and email communication.
- Effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with initiative and able to follow directives.
- Available to work a flexible five-day week, setting your own hours within the available window.
Training and Support
No prior meter installation experience is required as comprehensive training and onboarding are provided. Candidates with practical skills such as plumbers, tradespeople, mechanics, landscapers, or outdoor workers with reliable vehicles are highly encouraged to apply. Plumbing experience is a plus but is not mandatory.
