Job description
Position Summary
Our client, a prominent healthcare-related organization based in Austin, TX, is seeking a Communications Specialist for a 4-month contract with potential for extension and permanent placement. This role primarily involves onsite presence with some hybrid flexibility. The successful candidate will be integral in supporting a growing communications team by crafting, reviewing, and managing diverse communication materials, including presentations, digital content, and member communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and manage communications content targeting both internal and external groups.
- Develop and update PowerPoint presentations, reports, marketing collateral, and informational documents.
- Assist in managing website content, newsletters, email campaigns, and member-focused communications.
- Ensure content accuracy, consistency, and compliance through review and approval processes.
- Coordinate communication projects from conception to delivery in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- Support logistical arrangements for virtual and face-to-face events such as webinars, conferences, and outreach programs.
- Manage event materials, communication with attendees, and timelines.
- Monitor project deadlines, deliverables, and approval stages while maintaining detailed documentation.
- Engage in presentations, educational forums, and outreach activities when required.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Health Administration, Public Policy, Journalism, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least five years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, corporate communications, or healthcare communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in creating professional PowerPoint presentations and other communication materials.
- Strong organizational capability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to established workflows.
- Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects across departments.
Preferred Experience
- Background supporting healthcare, health insurance, employee benefits, public sector, educational or regulated sectors.
- Keen understanding of member, healthcare, or benefit plan communications.
- Experience in planning or supporting webinars, workshops, conferences, or outreach events.
- Comfortable working with external vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Capable public speaker for internal and external audiences.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced PowerPoint skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with content management systems and digital communication platforms is an advantage.
- Familiarity with project coordination and workflow tools is preferred.
