Investigations Specialist

Overview

The Midtown Group is seeking two Senior Employment Investigations Analysts for a two-year consulting contract with a leading transportation client based in the Los Angeles area. These roles involve extensive travel and focus on managing and executing employment investigation processes to support complex cases including discrimination and harassment complaints.

Responsibilities

• Manage the intake and administration of employee complaints, performing preliminary assessments to gauge case severity and scope, and assign cases appropriately.
• Act as the main liaison to the client's external investigation support team, providing guidance, escalation assistance, and necessary information to ensure thorough, timely, and high-quality investigations.
• Analyze complaint data to identify trends and evaluate key metrics that support informed decision-making and ongoing process improvements.
• Prepare and deliver reports summarizing complaint trends, case outcomes, and pertinent insights to internal stakeholders.
• Conduct comprehensive, impartial, and timely investigations following established procedures and best practices while maintaining detailed records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline required; alternatively, a combination of education, specialized training, and progressive work experience will be considered.
• Mid- to senior-level professional experience of 3-5+ years in related fields.
• Depending on specific role emphasis: at least 3 years of advanced data analysis experience or 5+ years in federal criminal investigation work.

Preferred Background

• For labor and disciplinary focus: strong knowledge of corporate disciplinary procedures, labor agreements, and experience collaborating with union representatives and legal counsel.
• For criminal focus: background in federal criminal and civil law, ideally including completion of Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Basic and Advanced Criminal Investigator courses.
• For analytical/fraud focus: proficiency with quantitative analysis, including hands-on experience with advanced data analytics, machine learning, or crime analysis tools.
