Role Overview
The Communications Senior Manager, Asia, will spearhead the communications strategy across emerging Asian markets to support regional growth and initiatives. As the primary regional communications lead, the role focuses on effectively representing Crunchyroll's brand, leadership, and content across media, partners, and fanbases.
This position involves crafting communications at both corporate and consumer levels, promoting awareness of key anime launches, theatrical projects, partnerships, and fan engagements, while also safeguarding and enhancing our brand reputation across the region. You will provide trusted communications counsel to leadership, manage crisis communications, and direct agency partners in multiple markets.
Reporting to the Marketing Director for Southeast Asia, this role is critical in shaping long-term communications strategy and collaborating closely with global communications leadership. This is a remote role based in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the communications strategy for Asia aligned with business and marketing goals.
- Lead integrated campaigns for streaming anime releases, theatrical launches, brand promotions, partnerships, fan events, and corporate messaging.
- Create culturally relevant and compelling narratives strengthening brand leadership and fan engagement across diverse Asian markets.
- Advise regional leadership on communications, executive visibility, and corporate announcements.
- Manage crisis communication efforts to protect reputation and address regulatory or operational issues.
- Build and nurture relationships with media covering entertainment, lifestyle, business, anime communities, and pop culture, driving impactful press coverage and opportunities.
- Adapt global campaigns for cultural resonance with Asian audiences and media environments.
- Oversee multiple PR agencies, ensuring messaging consistency, local relevance, and timely execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Content, Partnerships, Product, Legal, Public Policy, and Global Communications to support strategic priorities.
- Set communication KPIs, evaluate performance and sentiment, and present insights and recommendations to regional and global leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in Communications, Public Relations, Corporate or Brand Communications, ideally in entertainment, streaming, media, technology, gaming, or consumer brands.
- Proven expertise in managing complex global organizations and aligning regional initiatives with global strategies.
- Extensive experience leading communications strategy and campaigns across multiple Asian markets.
- Demonstrated success in high-impact campaigns that increase brand awareness and audience engagement.
- Skilled adviser to senior leaders on communications strategy, corporate reputation, and crisis management.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and global communications teams.
- Deep knowledge of Asia's media landscapes, cultural differences, and entertainment industry trends.
- Established network with media, industry, and agency partners throughout the region.
- Experience managing communications programs, budgets, and agency relationships.
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, presentation, and media relations skills.
- Experience engaging with talent, creators, influencers, and fan communities is highly valued.
- Resourceful, strategic, and proactive in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.
- A passion for anime, entertainment, gaming, and fandom culture is strongly preferred.
