Job description
Overview
The Communications and Social Media Specialist will contribute to the Fund Development & Community Engagement team at Oasis Center by crafting, managing, and distributing content on social media platforms and other communication channels. This role supports storytelling, donor relations, and increases public awareness of the organization.
Social Media Management
- Oversee Oasis Center’s social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Create and maintain a monthly content calendar balancing planned and timely posts.
- Develop engaging social media content using graphic design programs like Canva or Adobe, ensuring brand and voice consistency.
- Track and analyze engagement statistics and create reports on reach, impressions, and audience growth.
- Manage responses to comments and messages appropriately per organizational standards.
Content Collection and Development
- Actively gather stories from youth, program updates, and organizational news for communication use.
- Collaborate with program staff to obtain photos, testimonials, and other authentic material representing the organization's work.
- Organize and maintain a content and media library for effective use in development communications.
Support for Development Communications
- Manage the publication and distribution of the Oasis Center e-newsletter including content creation, formatting, and scheduling.
- Assist with the production of annual reports, program overviews, and other development documents.
- Provide copyediting and proofreading assistance for donor-related communications.
Administrative Duties
- Participate in staff meetings and relevant agency events.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years' experience in social media management, communications, or a related area.
- Proficient with Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn including content creation and analytics.
- Experienced with graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong writing skills with adaptability for varied audiences and platforms.
- Excellent organization skills to manage content calendars and meet deadlines independently.
- Familiarity with e-newsletter platforms preferred.
- Background in marketing, communications, or public relations preferred; nonprofit experience advantageous.
- Basic photography or video editing skills considered a plus.
- Commitment to building supportive and inclusive relationships, especially with LGBTQ+ youth.
- Understanding of Positive Youth Development, Trauma-Informed Care, and adolescent development-informed evidence-based practices.
Physical Requirements
The role generally requires the ability to sit, speak, and hear regularly, with occasional standing and walking. Visual acuity for close and distance vision is necessary. Reasonable accommodations will be available for individuals with disabilities.

Compensation
The hourly wage ranges from 18 to 22 USD.
