Job description

Job Overview

This position supports the Fund Development and Community Engagement team by crafting, managing, and distributing content across social media and communications platforms, enhancing organizational storytelling, donor interaction, and community recognition.

Social Media Responsibilities

  • Oversee Oasis Center’s social channels on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Create and maintain a monthly social media content schedule balancing planned and real-time posts.
  • Develop and design engaging social media content using graphic tools like Canva or Adobe, aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Track engagement metrics such as reach, impressions, followers, and content performance and generate periodic reports.
  • Engage with audience comments and messages following organizational protocols.

Content Gathering and Development

  • Collect stories from youth, program updates, and news for use across communication outlets.
  • Collaborate with program teams to obtain authentic photos, testimonials, and materials reflecting the organization's mission and results.
  • Organize and maintain a digital content and asset repository for development communications.

Development Communication Support

  • Manage production and distribution of the e-newsletter including content assembling, layout, and scheduling.
  • Assist in creating annual reports, program summaries, and other fundraising communication documents as needed.
  • Support proofreading and copyediting of donor-focused materials.

General and Administrative Duties

  • Participate in organization and departmental meetings.
  • Attend relevant agency events and perform additional assigned responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in social media management or communications.
  • Proficiency in Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, including content creation and analytics.
  • Experience with graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to adjust tone for various audiences and platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain content calendars and meet deadlines independently.
  • Preferred familiarity with e-newsletter platforms and marketing, communications, or public relations backgrounds; nonprofit experience is advantageous.
  • Basic skills in photography or video editing are a plus.
  • Capacity to build supportive and affirming relationships with youth, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
  • Understanding and application of Positive Youth Development, Trauma-Informed Care, and adolescent developmental principles.

Additional Information

The role requires frequent sitting and verbal communication, occasional standing and walking, and visual acuity for close and distant viewing. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. The position reports to the VP of Fund Development & Community Engagement.

Education and Compensation

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or similar fields.
  • Hourly wage range: $18 to $22.
  • Commitment: Part-time role requiring 20–25 hours weekly, onsite in Nashville, TN.
