About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Communications to lead and implement the organization's external communications and public relations strategies. This full-time role is based on-site in San Francisco, offering a competitive annual compensation ranging from $250,000 to $400,000. The position requires a weekly commitment between 10 to 40 hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee the company’s external communications and public relations plans.
- Establish and maintain connections with journalists, creators, analysts, and influential figures within the industry.
- Achieve earned media coverage across various platforms including digital outlets, print media, broadcast channels, podcasts, and social media.
- Create effective messaging for product launches, partnerships, company news, and communications from executives.
- Enhance visibility of company leaders by organizing interviews, speaking events, authored articles, and media engagements.
- Prepare senior executives with tailored messaging guidance, briefing documents, and media coaching.
- Oversee external public relations agencies and communication partners.
- Lead communications efforts during crises and in urgent response scenarios as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive background in communications or public relations leadership within rapidly scaling technology firms.
- Outstanding writing capabilities, storytelling expertise, and verbal communication skills.
- Track record of successfully gaining high-profile media placements and nurturing enduring press connections.
- Experience managing communication strategies for product launches and significant organizational announcements.
- Strong strategic insight with the capability to simplify complex technical content into engaging and understandable narratives.
- Ability to juggle diverse priorities effectively in a dynamic, remote work environment.
