Job description

Role Overview

This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase and enhance your communication expertise within a collaborative, high-achieving team. The role is permanent and based at our Petone office, conveniently close to the beach and local shops. It is a full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week and participation in an on-call roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement strategic initiatives to build and uphold the Tiaki Wai brand and its reputation.
  • Provide thoughtful communication and engagement counsel on significant projects.
  • Design and execute social marketing campaigns aimed at promoting positive behavioural changes within the community.
  • Establish and nurture robust relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support subject matter experts, communication personnel, and leadership within the organisation.
  • Create captivating content for various organisational programs and initiatives.
  • Develop professional skills alongside your experienced team members.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Possesses knowledge or experience in managing a brand effectively.
  • Experienced in delivering multi-channel communication including social media and web content.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments with multiple competing priorities.
  • Displays curiosity, hands-on attitude, and adaptability to shifting needs.
  • Able to recognise opportunities to strengthen the organisation’s reputation and social licence.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this role ranges between $80,369 and $113,464 annually (inclusive of KiwiSaver), depending on experience and skills. Benefits include flexible working arrangements allowing up to two days working from home, an extensive wellbeing program including one paid wellbeing day annually, opportunities for both formal and informal professional growth, and accrual of five weeks’ annual leave following two years of uninterrupted service.

About Tiaki Wai

Tiaki Wai is a council-owned entity managing drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services across the Hutt Valley, Porirua, and Wellington regions.
