Role overview
H&M is hiring a Commercial Space Business Analyst to help improve the mix of products offered in stores, define optimal space and assortment strategies, and support the delivery of projects and global initiatives. This onsite position is based in Toronto and reports to the Commercial Manager at the Toronto Support Office.
What you will do
- Refine the assortment mix and the size of the offer to improve commercial performance.
- Use sales results, demand patterns, and catchment area analysis to contribute to portfolio strategy decisions.
- Work with Continent SP to adjust replenishment plans and block stock when store performance changes unexpectedly, such as during rebuilds or due to nearby construction.
- Build the omni commercial business case, determine assortment structure, and define ideal store capacity for new openings, rebuilds, and portfolio changes using the relevant tools.
- Track interior space in the Sales Market each season and collect inputs needed to estimate future store space requirements.
- Carry out allocation activities for all store-related projects, including new stores, rebuilds, closures, and SP10, while aligning with project phases and coordinating schedules with logistics and area teams.
- Visit stores on site with the Visual Project Lead to support strong execution and a better customer experience.
- Review project outcomes and share findings with the Sales Market and global teams.
- Partner with Expansion, area teams, store teams, VPLs, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and assortment optimization.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to Global Retail/Store Design on layout capacity to help improve sales productivity.
- Support global teams in designing and launching tests and other worldwide initiatives.
What we are looking for
- A background in a quantitative field such as Business or Finance is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to build business cases and calculate return on investment.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to connect commercial analysis with store layout and setup.
- Solid project management capability.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- At least 2 years of experience in Commercial Merchandising or Expansion.
- Good understanding of both Expansion and Commercial Merchandising ways of working.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes and garment flow complexity.
- Familiarity with physical store operations and daily routines.
- General awareness of the store portfolio in the market.
