Role overview
As a Department Manager at H&M, you will lead and support your team so they can perform at their best. Your focus will be on building an inclusive, collaborative, and entrepreneurial workplace where people can grow and contribute to the company’s success.
What you will do
- Guide the team to create an excellent customer journey by maintaining strong operational execution and visual presentation standards, while also driving product selling.
- Own the performance of your store and department by reviewing sales results, spotting commercial opportunities, setting targets, and building action plans that improve sales, profit, and stock availability.
- Oversee workforce planning, shift scheduling, and smooth opening and closing processes.
- Hire, onboard, and support team development while strengthening a culture of inclusion, cooperation, and innovation.
- Keep track of fashion movements, shopper behavior, and competitor activity to stay commercially strong.
- Act as a positive representative of both yourself and the brand in every customer interaction.
Who you will work with
You will be part of the store team, which may include Sales Advisors, Department Managers, Store Managers, Visual Merchandisers, Assistant Store Managers, Cash Office Responsible staff, and Delivery Responsible staff in larger stores. You will also collaborate with the wider area team to share ideas and support business performance across stores. The role contributes directly to helping customers feel confident, discover current trends, and enjoy a welcoming store experience.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking someone with retail management and operations experience, strong people leadership skills, and the ability to coach and develop others. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with sales planning, analysis, follow-up, and using customer-focused tools and reports. You should be a confident leader who acts with integrity, works well in a fast-moving team environment, and stays focused on solutions. A strong interest in fashion, commercial performance, and competitor insights is important, along with clear communication, creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and comfort working with numbers and statistics.

This is a full-time, onsite position for stores in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The role reports to the Store Manager.
