About the Program
The Africa Commercial Trainee Program spans two years and is designed to cultivate future commercial leaders throughout Africa by providing comprehensive exposure to ADM's operations in the nutritional and agricultural sectors. Participants will rotate across business units and countries, gaining hands-on knowledge in sales, marketing, customer relations, logistics, market research, business development, and other key commercial disciplines relevant to the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire knowledge of agricultural commodity markets and commercial functions across Africa.
- Assist teams in trading, sales, marketing, and business development to support commercial strategies.
- Establish and maintain strong interactions with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Conduct analysis of market trends, supply-demand dynamics, customer requirements, and competitor activity.
- Engage in pricing, contract oversight, logistics coordination, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Lead strategic projects and deliver presentations to senior management.
- Gain an understanding of ADM’s value chains, products, and commercial workflows.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various countries, business areas, and functional units.
- Contribute to identifying growth prospects and enhancing customer value.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in fields like Business Administration, Economics, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, or Food Technology.
- Have zero to two years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for commercial business, sales, marketing, customer relations, market evaluation, and the food, nutrition, or agricultural sectors.
- Exhibit excellent analytical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-driven, goal-oriented, and keen on learning.
- Show leadership potential and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of additional African or international languages is advantageous.
- Experience with international, multicultural, or cross-cultural settings is favorable.
- Express a commitment to building a career in Africa with readiness to relocate across African countries during the program.
