Role overview
This position focuses on managing commercial lending relationships, growing business with commercial customers and prospects, and supporting the bank’s credit and portfolio objectives. The role combines sales, credit analysis, loan documentation oversight, risk monitoring, and client service.
Key responsibilities
- Market and sell business banking products and services to commercial clients and prospects, primarily through direct outreach and referrals.
- Review the credit profile of commercial borrowers and recommend whether credit should be extended.
- Create sales proposals, coordinate commitment letters, and present solutions to clients and prospects.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships by cross-selling additional bank services.
- Supervise the preparation of legal paperwork required to close loans.
- Track portfolio risk, act to reduce exposure, and manage collateral and documentation exceptions.
- Keep loan delinquency within management-approved standards.
- Work with operational and technical teams to resolve issues that arise.
- Represent the bank in community, civic, and professional groups to build visibility and networking opportunities.
- Follow the organization’s service standards consistently.
- Complete all required and optional training, including BSA and anti-money laundering training, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential part of the job.
Education and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance is required.
- At least 3 years of experience working as a commercial lender is required.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, internet research/navigation, and Outlook is expected.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Frequent travel is part of the role and requires dependable personal transportation.
