Role Overview
The Commercial Finance Analyst role is based in New York and follows a hybrid setup with 2 to 3 days each week in the office. This position sits within the Commercial Finance team and is suited to someone early in their finance career who wants to deepen their understanding of financial operations, reporting, and cross-functional business support.
In this position, you will help manage financial operations and reporting for the New York region and EVA-related workstreams. The role contributes to budgeting, revenue analysis, monthly close activities, invoicing follow-up, and broader operational finance tasks in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support financial operations and reporting for the New York commercial finance team.
- Assist with budget monitoring, forecast support, and financial analysis.
- Help execute the monthly closing process.
- Partner with Shared Services to track the invoicing cycle and help ensure client payments are accurate and received on time.
- Review budgets, costs, and financial performance indicators.
- Work closely with Client Services, Project Management, Accounting, and Finance teams.
- Keep financial records and reports updated in tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and ERP systems like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle NetSuite.
- Coordinate with Shared Services and Treasury to follow up on and assess overdue accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly revenue recognition entries and support related coordination with Accounting during close.
- Support the Financial Operations Lead through monthly close by confirming that all invoicing is completed and tracked for revenue recognition purposes.
- Manage purchase order approvals.
- Coordinate with Shared Services on accounts payable to confirm vendor payments have been made and the correct PO process has been followed.
- Join project wrap meetings when needed to provide financial context and support full project closeout, including impacts on revenue, receivables, payables, and WIP releases.
- Review budgets and statements of work to confirm invoice details and payment terms are correct.
- Handle ad hoc work such as budget analysis, agency cost review, forecasting exposure, and staff cost tracking.
Requirements
- 0 to 2 years of experience in commercial finance, finance, accounting, financial operations, or a similar finance-focused position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Advanced comfort with Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
- Clear communication and strong collaboration skills.
- Self-driven attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Ability to stay organized, motivated, and goal-oriented while supporting the Commercial Finance team’s structure and responsibilities.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in an agency or business services environment within financial operations, client finance, or accounting.
- Proven project management ability, including multitasking and prioritization.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite or another commercial ERP system.
- Exposure to NSPB or a similar planning tool is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Google Sheets, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Ability to work diplomatically with cross-functional teams and address business concerns constructively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfort working independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.

Compensation
The stated base salary range is USD 7,000 to USD 8,500 per month.
