Job Overview
Are you passionate about food and analytics? The Merchant Operations Business Analytics (MOBA) team is seeking a Business Analyst motivated to solve complex challenges, drive outstanding research, and innovate the future of grocery shopping with our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and maintain insightful dashboards that track business metrics to evaluate the impact of omnichannel pricing and promotional strategies, supporting business decision-making.
- Write proficient, high-quality SQL queries to extract and analyze datasets relating to pricing, promotions, consumer buying patterns, and customer insights; adeptly select appropriate Amazon data sources for various analyses.
- Transform raw data and existing BI dashboards into actionable insights with clear implications and recommendations tailored for different business units.
- Present findings effectively using data visualization and presentations to engage stakeholders.
- Tackle novel and undefined business problems by applying innovative and creative analytical approaches.
- Keep up with the latest trends and best practices in analytics methodologies.
About the MOBA Team
The MOBA team operates within the broader category management division, overseeing product assortment, pricing, promotions, and profit/loss decisions. This team collaborates closely with technology, grocery scientists and economists, marketing, customer insights, and other grocery stakeholders. We thrive in a dynamic environment and focus sharply on actionable results to realize Amazon's ambitious grocery vision.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical discipline.
- Over 5 years of experience with Excel including advanced functions like VBA, pivot tables, array formulas, and Power Pivot, alongside proficiency with data visualization software such as Tableau.
- At least 3 years in business or financial analysis roles.
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
- Demonstrable skills in defining requirements and leveraging data and metrics to generate business insights.
- Proficiency in SQL querying.
- Experience providing business recommendations and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience as a business analyst or data analyst.
- Advanced skills in Excel or Tableau, including data manipulation, macros, charts, and pivot tables.

- Arlington, VA: $74,300 - $130,100 annually
- Seattle, WA: $82,700 - $130,100 annually
