Clinical Support Worker – Emergency Department

Role Overview

We are seeking Clinical Support Workers to deliver essential phlebotomy, cannulation, and ECG services within a dynamic Emergency Department environment. This role blends advanced clinical support abilities with direct patient care to assist clinicians in providing prompt assessments, diagnoses, and treatments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture, peripheral cannulation, and 12-lead ECGs adhering to Trust policies and competency requirements.
• Assist in patient evaluations by taking and documenting clinical observations.
• Support nursing and medical teams in providing safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
• Identify and report signs of patient deterioration or changes in condition promptly.
• Accurately label, handle, and transport specimens.
• Keep precise patient records and documentation up-to-date.
• Enhance patient flow by facilitating rapid assessment, diagnostics, and treatment workflows.
• Manage clinical equipment and maintain adequate stock levels within the department.
• Comply with infection control, safeguarding, and clinical governance standards consistently.
• Engage in ongoing training, competency evaluations, and professional development activities.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Level 3 healthcare qualification or an equivalent certification.
• Demonstrate previous experience in a healthcare setting; experience within emergency, urgent, or acute care is preferable.
• Show motivation, reliability, and a caring approach suited for a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Training and competency support will be provided to the successful candidate.
