Role overview

The Clinical Research Assistant II supports clinical research activities for the Tisch Cancer Center’s Cancer Clinical Trials team, with a focus on the Multiple Myeloma program. In this role, you will assist the Clinical Research Team and the principal investigator in carrying out study tasks, maintaining data, and managing related documentation.

The Tisch Cancer Center is part of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and is a key part of the Mount Sinai Health System. It is an NCI-designated center that uses a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care and research, with the goal of advancing treatments and clinical discoveries.

Key duties

  • Provide administrative, organizational, and clinical support for the Multiple Myeloma research program, including meeting coordination across departments and help with invoice and payment issues.
  • Carry out protocol-based research tasks such as answering calls, booking appointments, arranging specimen collection, supporting data entry, and reviewing safety reports.
  • Record study information and enter data accurately into the research database.
  • Help prepare grant materials and submissions for IRB/GCO review and filing.
  • Maintain source records and participant files according to hospital procedures, including chart review to verify completeness and accuracy.
  • Arrange, secure, transport, and ship clinical specimens as required by study protocols.
  • Collect and process specimens, support point-of-care testing, prepare exam rooms or materials, assist clinicians during procedures, take vital signs, and communicate instructions to patients and families.
  • Handle incoming calls, share relevant information, and perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in a related discipline, or a high school diploma plus equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a research environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy are preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules effectively is preferred.

Compensation

The posted hourly pay range for this position is $16.50 to $27.6573. Final pay may vary based on experience, education, and operational requirements. This range does not include bonuses, incentives, shift differentials, or other compensation and benefits.
