Clinical Faculty, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Position Overview

Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, invites applications for full-time faculty positions in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS). The ideal candidates are academically driven dental professionals eager to teach, learn, and enhance their academic careers. Successful applicants will show clinical and administrative expertise and are expected to be prepared to assume the role of Director of the Predoctoral Oral Surgery Program within two years.

Academic Responsibilities

Faculty members will deliver education in both predoctoral and postdoctoral dental programs, while maintaining clinical practice competencies. Teaching follows an apprenticeship-based model, actively involving faculty as clinicians alongside students and residents. Clinical practice commitments include at least one day per week at the dental school or a modern 12-chair faculty practice located nearby.

Qualifications and Licensure

• Possession of a DMD or DDS degree from a CODA-accredited institution; consideration given to foreign equivalents.
• Eligibility for or possession of an unrestricted or restricted Pennsylvania dental license.
• Experience in clinical OMS programs of 4 to 6 years duration.
• Certification from a CODA-accredited OMS specialty program or equivalent international certification.
• Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of OMS or equivalent international credential.
• Competency in delivering OMS care at predoctoral, postdoctoral, sedation center, and affiliated hospitals including Temple University Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Clinical Duties

Faculty will provide direct patient care minimum one day weekly, participate in operating room supervision, and treat specialized conditions including head and neck cancer, TMJ surgery, and orthognathic surgery at affiliated hospitals.
