Job description

Position Overview

This role is focused on supervisory, administrative, and hands-on duties as a Clerk of the District Court within the 4th Judicial District, located in Coffey County, Kansas. The incumbent will oversee the comprehensive management of multiple court divisions including Civil, Criminal, Probate, Traffic, Juvenile, and delinquent personal property tax at the trial level of the Kansas District Court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate activities and staff to maintain efficient, effective, and uniform case processing systems and procedures throughout the court.
  • Ensure proficiency in various court-related computer applications such as accounting, docketing, traffic management, budgeting, and judge’s docket programs to support court operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school graduation required with a minimum of four years clerical experience, including two years directly related to court or other legal clerical work.
  • Relevant college coursework from an accredited two- or four-year institution can substitute for up to two years of the required experience, but at least two years of court clerical or related experience must be completed beyond substituted coursework.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Familiar with accounting, personnel management, records handling, and customer service functions related to court environment.
  • Comfortable with personal computer technology, software applications, and local area network systems.
  • Preference given to candidates knowledgeable about the 4th Judicial District.
