Reading Borough Council is seeking a dependable Cleaning Operative to join its Building Cleaning Team, delivering outstanding hygiene and cleanliness across multiple council properties in Reading. This full-time, permanent position offers a chance to be part of a dedicated team focused on maintaining high standards in various facilities.

- Salary: £25,949 annually plus a 5% shift allowance, totaling £27,246 per year
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:00pm, with potential weekend shifts

Role Responsibilities
- Provide top-quality cleaning services under the guidance of the Cleaning Operative Supervisor aligned with service specifications
- Maintain cleanliness in a variety of settings including toilets, offices, meeting rooms, and housing stock through activities such as mopping, dusting, polishing, vacuuming, and sweeping
- Observe all applicable Health and Safety regulations, including wearing protective clothing following COSHH guidelines
- Promptly report any maintenance problems to the supervisor
- Ensure adequate stocking of consumables in washrooms and communal areas
- Participate in staff meetings and training relevant to the role
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the cleaning operative role
Candidate Profile
- UK driving license is mandatory as the role involves traveling to multiple sites by van
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and excellent punctuality
- Capable of working independently and managing prioritization efficiently
- Good communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with colleagues
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team and promote a harmonious working environment
- Fluent spoken English skills necessary for all aspects of the job
- Flexible attitude to support other functions as required
- Commitment to ownership and follow-through on assigned tasks
