Role Summary
This position is for a Child and Youth Development Support Worker based in Firhouse, Dublin, and reporting to the Homeless Service Manager. The post involves helping to design and deliver targeted support programmes for parents, families, children, and young people within a family homelessness service. The work is grounded in a housing-led, trauma-informed approach, with an emphasis on collaboration, trust, respect, and diversity.
Working Pattern and Terms
The role is part-time, for 20 hours per week, across 7 days from Monday to Sunday, with late and early shifts. The advertised salary is €39,017.18 to €50,492.82 pro rata; offers are generally made at the lower to mid-point of the range depending on relevant skills and experience.
What You Will Do
You will support the development of practical, needs-led services that improve outcomes for children, young people, and families. The role includes coordinating group activities, developing parent-focused life skills programmes, liaising with community organisations, helping shape service design, and supporting families with additional needs or vulnerabilities. You will also contribute to monitoring, evaluation, reporting, health and safety, policy review, and child safeguarding responsibilities.

Experience and Qualification Requirements
A third-level undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Youth Work, Social Work, or a related discipline. The role also calls for 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Attributes
Strong report-writing, administrative, and computer skills are needed, including familiarity with the MS Suite. The role also benefits from excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, facilitation, teamwork, empathy, and the ability to work independently. Flexibility is important, including availability for work in a 24-hour service environment covering days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
