About the Role

Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join the executive leadership team of a respected law firm in Lancaster, CA. This position is tailored for a strategic and results-driven executive dedicated to optimizing operations, cultivating high-performing teams, and implementing scalable systems that propel organizational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with firm leadership to enhance organizational effectiveness, improve client satisfaction, streamline operational processes, and position the firm for sustainable growth.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team, fostering interdepartmental collaboration and spearheading initiatives for continuous operational improvements that enhance case handling efficiency and long-term profitability.
  • Design and implement executive-level dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting mechanisms to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead administrative and operational functions working in close partnership with departments such as Finance, Human Resources, Technology, and Recruiting to ensure cohesive organizational alignment.
  • Maintain operational compliance with all relevant legal, employment, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

  • A proven track record of guiding complex organizations through phases of growth, operational transformation, and ongoing improvement.
  • Minimum of 10 years in operational leadership roles, including extensive experience managing sizable teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory; possession of an MBA, JD, or other related advanced degrees is preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a professional services firm or law firm environment is essential.
  • Outstanding leadership abilities along with strong communication and decision-making skills.
