Job description
About ToysReloved
ToysReloved gives toys a second chance by creating a “reloved instead of new” experience. The company is building a scalable, technology-driven circular platform for toys, where operations are the core driver of quality, efficiency, and profitability.
This is not a traditional operations leadership role. The team is looking for an entrepreneurial COO and co-founder who will design, build, scale, and own the full operational value chain.
As COO, you will carry end-to-end responsibility for operations from inbound goods to shipping, while also shaping the infrastructure needed for scale. You will help define company strategy, own key metrics and cost structures, develop the organisation, and turn operations into a clear competitive advantage.
You will work closely with the founding team on vision, fundraising, scaling, and strategic partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute a long-term operations strategy that supports sustainable and profitable growth.
- Create scalable processes across the full value chain, including sourcing, sorting, cleaning, inspection, storage, shipping, and donation.
- Evaluate make-or-buy decisions, such as running an in-house warehouse versus using a 3PL partner.
- Develop site and international expansion plans, for example partner or warehouse locations in Eastern Europe; this role requires around 20% travel.
- Design efficient, standardised, and technology-enabled workflows for different toy categories.
- Establish strong quality standards and clear grading logic.
- Continuously improve lead times, return rates, and margins.
- Work closely with the tech team to build automated workflows, digital process control, and data-driven decision models.
- Introduce systems for tracking, forecasting, and performance management.
- Recruit, lead, and develop the operations team.
- Define clear ownership, KPIs, and performance frameworks.
- Build a high-performance team culture that is practical, values-based, and execution-oriented.
- Help shape the overall strategy of ToysReloved.
- Prepare for and support investor discussions focused on operations and scaling.
- Build strategic partnerships, including with logistics providers and social organisations.
- Be part of the founding team with real co-ownership and equity participation.
Requirements
- Several years of leadership experience in an operations role, ideally in a fast-growing D2C, e-commerce, or platform business.
- Proven success in building and scaling operational structures.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on ownership approach and practical execution ability.
- Experience managing processes and KPIs through data.
- Very good German and English language skills.
- Additional advantage: experience setting up warehouses or logistics networks.
- Additional advantage: exposure to automation, process digitisation, or tech integration such as ERP, WMS, or analytics tools.
- Additional advantage: work with 3PL providers or international logistics structures.
- Additional advantage: background in re-commerce, marketplaces, or consumer goods.
- Additional advantage: enthusiasm for the toy market, ideally from a parent’s perspective.
Additional Information
The role is based in Berlin and is an on-site full-time position.
The position offers real influence as a later-stage co-founder with equity and responsibility from day one.
You will join a company with a clear social mission during a growth phase that includes fundraising, scaling, and international expansion.
The role comes with substantial strategic and operational freedom.
Travel readiness of approximately 20% is expected.
