Job description

Role overview

The firm is looking for a senior operating and compliance leader to help create the internal structure needed for future growth. This is a hands-on, build-focused position rather than an upkeep-only role. The successful candidate will shape the company’s operating model from the ground up, working closely with the executive team to turn a founder-led organization into a more scalable, professionally run business.

This is a confidential search for a well-regarded, growth-minded wealth management firm based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Company details will be shared with qualified candidates during the process.

The position is weighted approximately 80% toward chief operating officer responsibilities and 20% toward chief compliance officer responsibilities.

What the role covers

  • Setting the operating cadence, building accountability routines, and ensuring cross-team actions are followed through.
  • Improving core processes and systems, including CRM standards, workflow documentation, and infrastructure that can support growth.
  • Creating dashboards and reporting tools that give leadership clear, timely insight into business performance.
  • Managing compliance execution in coordination with outside counsel so deadlines are met and the firm stays ahead of requirements.

Background that fits well

The ideal candidate has experience bringing structure and clarity to an organization that is still scaling. Strong experience in wealth management is helpful, but the firm is also open to professionals from financial services, insurance, banking, accounting, legal, or other regulated professional-services settings. Registered investment advisor experience is a plus, though not mandatory.

What matters most is a proven ability to build accountability, create operational discipline, and bring order to a growing business.

Why this opportunity stands out

This position is best suited to someone who enjoys building systems, not simply maintaining them. It offers the chance to have a meaningful impact at a values-driven firm that is preparing for its next stage of growth.

Compensation

The base salary range is $200,000 to $250,000, plus bonus and equity.

Location

Chapel Hill, NC. The role is on-site and full-time.
