About Kitselas Development Corporation
Kitselas Development Corporation (KDC) serves as the economic arm of the Kitselas First Nation, located in Terrace, British Columbia. Governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Kitselas First Nation Chief and Council, KDC's mission is to foster business, employment, partnership, and economic development opportunities that bolster Kitselas' participation in both the local and wider Northwest BC economy.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will deliver executive and operational oversight across KDC, its divisions, operating departments, and affiliated companies. This senior position plays a vital role in developing and implementing strategies, policies, initiatives, and partnerships aimed at enhancing organizational performance and driving sustainable economic growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the CEO in crafting and executing policies and strategies that promote business growth, employment, and economic development opportunities aligned with Kitselas interests.
- Provide leadership at a strategic and operational level across all KDC companies and departments.
- Engage actively in contract and agreement negotiations, including oversight of contractual obligations and lease agreements.
- Identify, assess, and capitalize on new business ventures, investments, and partnership prospects.
- Manage the corporation's property holdings and contribute to strategic discussions regarding land use.
- Oversee financial health, budgeting, and governance of the corporation.
- Offer leadership, mentorship, and performance management to direct reports to foster a productive work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, leadership, management, commerce, economics, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- A minimum of three years in senior leadership, operations management, business development, or economic development roles.
- Experience collaborating with First Nations and Indigenous communities.
- Proven skills in strategic planning, financial oversight, contract and lease administration, and business plan formulation.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, analytical, and communication capabilities.
- Possession of a valid British Columbia Driver's License, the flexibility to travel as required, and the ability to clear a criminal record check.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers an annual salary ranging from $90,000 to $130,000. Included is a comprehensive benefits package featuring health, dental, and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability plans, life insurance, a registered pension plan with employer matching contributions, and paid leave.
Additional Information
This role is based onsite in Thornhill, British Columbia. The position remains open until a suitable candidate is hired.
