Role Overview
The Chief of Staff to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) acts as a vital strategic integrator, bridging strategy and execution within the technology division. This position supports scaling of the technology organization by translating corporate strategy into a unified operational framework that promotes alignment, responsibility, and performance across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and enhance the CTO organization's operational cadence, ensuring timely monitoring of key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with executive support teams such as People, Finance, and Administration to implement strategic change initiatives throughout the technology division.
- Develop and refine planning and governance processes that enable efficient management and real-time visibility into the technology organization's performance.
- Lead complex, high-impact cross-functional projects, driving consensus and execution among senior leadership.
- Partner with HR to design employee engagement initiatives fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace; implement effective internal communications within the team.
- Facilitate collaboration across teams to enhance decision-making speed and minimize organizational friction.
- Conduct strategic meetings, ensuring clarity of objectives and follow-up actions; represent the CTO in interdepartmental gatherings to champion priorities aligned with company strategy.
- Build trusted relationships with the CTO's direct reports and other key leaders to identify improvements in operational practices and help craft innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 12 to 15 years of experience in business or executive management roles, with a strong record of achieving results within engineering organizations.
- Exceptional versatility dedicated to optimizing productivity.
- Proven ability to define, plan, and execute top-level strategic initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple teams or departments effectively.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data-driven decision-making for complex challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Analytical experience with data to inform decisions.
- Budget management skills.
- Background in consulting focused on operations management.
- Success in project management roles, including strong project reporting and cross-department communication.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges vary based on U.S. pay zones according to location and experience. The salary bands are as follows:
- Zone 1 (Bay Area): $188,480–$235,600 per year
- Zone 2 (NYC and Seattle): $180,120–$225,150 per year
- Zone 3 (Various states including CA, WA, NY): $167,200–$209,000 per year
- Zone 4 (Other U.S. states): $155,420–$194,275 per year
