Role Overview
The Chief of Staff for the Enterprise General Manager plays a pivotal role in uniting functional teams to ensure strategic coherence across the organization. This position operates as a trusted strategic partner at the company level, leading enterprise-wide initiatives and fostering leadership alignment to reinforce operational excellence and sustainable growth. The role demands blending strategic foresight with pragmatic operational execution to support Coursera’s scaling phase.
Key Objectives
- Back multi-year strategies of the Enterprise GM aimed at enhancing financial performance.
- Drive cross-functional integration to unify strategy, priorities, and resource allocation.
- Maintain sustainable operational standards including governance and organizational cadence.
- Facilitate strategic decision-making at executive tiers.
- Lead and steer cross-functional projects that advance corporate strategy and processes.
- Enhance collaboration across functions to realize company-wide priorities.
- Identify and address broad organizational challenges impacting multiple departments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive and enabling functions such as Finance, HR, and Executive Assistants to create and implement 2-3 year strategic plans with measurable impact aligned to company goals.
- Design and deploy advanced operating models that support company growth while preserving agility.
- Offer strategic guidance to senior leadership on critical business decisions, grounded in thorough market insights and internal capabilities.
- Achieve alignment among executives on strategic priorities and the distribution of resources.
- Manage the design and execution of complex organizational changes, including structural, procedural, and cultural transformations.
- Integrate and distill insights across departments to advise on company-level tradeoffs and task sequencing.
- Build and nurture influential relationships among senior management (VP-level and above) for rapid execution of strategic initiatives.
Qualifications Required
- At least 15 years of experience in business management, strategy, or executive advisory roles.
- Proven success in driving results within a B2B SaaS revenue-focused environment, particularly in revenue operations, sales, or go-to-market functions.
- Experienced in leading extensive, multi-year transformation projects.
- Demonstrated capability to influence C-suite decisions and lead organizational change.
- Expertise in organizational design and operational excellence principles.
- Adept at navigating ambiguity and delivering results amidst rapidly changing scenarios.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Exceptional executive presence paired with excellent communication abilities.
- Experienced managing high-level stakeholder relationships at VP and above.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- Experience overseeing large global teams of over 30 full-time employees.
- Proven track record in profit and loss responsibility.
- History of serving as an interim executive leader.
- Experience driving company-wide transformation initiatives in a cross-functional leadership capacity.
Compensation and Pay Zones
The role's salary depends on geographic location within four defined U.S. pay zones:
- Zone 1 (Bay Area): $218,500 - $273,125
- Zone 2 (New York City and Seattle Metro): $209,000 - $261,250
- Zone 3 (Various states including CA, NY, TX, and others): $193,800 - $242,250
- Zone 4 (Rest of U.S. states including FL, AZ, IL, etc.): $180,500 - $225,625
