Job description

Role Overview

Serving as Chief of Staff to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Asana, you will amplify the effectiveness of the product leadership team. This critical position ensures the CPO leads a high-performing unit by streamlining priorities into an operational cadence, harmonizing efforts among Product, Engineering, and Design, and facilitating key communications and strategic initiatives to enable quicker, improved decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the main operating rhythm for the Office of the CPO, including overseeing meetings with CPO directs, R&D leaders, and product leaders.
  • Prepare well-structured agendas and follow through on leadership meetings to guarantee productive discussions and clear actions.
  • Create polished, executive-level documents for board meetings, product strategy evaluations, quarterly plans, and other senior forums.
  • Lead programs such as R&D All Hands and manage communications from the CPO to ensure clarity of priorities and alignment among leaders.
  • Organize leadership retreats and events that bolster team culture, engagement, and unity within the product organization.
  • Translate company-wide Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) into actionable inputs for R&D and support quarterly OKR processes across product and partner teams.
  • Serve as a liaison among Product, Engineering, and Design teams, identifying misalignments early and guiding consensus on direction and decisions.
  • Optimize how the Office of the CPO handles customer meetings and field requests to engage appropriate product or R&D leaders and prioritize the CPO’s involvement effectively.
  • Lead special projects requiring sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to create clarity amid ambiguity.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in fast-paced technology environments, ideally in product roles (product management, design, UX), product marketing, or operations.
  • Background supporting senior product or R&D executives with sensitivity to high-stakes, visible matters.
  • Superior written and oral communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex topics into concise narratives, briefs, and decision documents.
  • Expertise in designing meetings that result in clear decisions, assigned ownership, and actionable next steps.
  • Ability to exercise strong cross-functional judgment and influence across areas including Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Go-To-Market, and partnerships without causing bottlenecks.
  • Excellent strategic problem-solving and analytical skills to define problems, weigh options, and recommend solutions in uncertain situations.
  • High emotional intelligence, sound discretion, and the capacity to earn trust quickly while managing confidential information.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with flexibility to operate from high-level executive communication to granular operational details.
  • Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies with eagerness to adopt these to improve productivity, collaboration, and decision-making.
