Position Overview
We are undertaking a confidential search for a distinguished Chief Investment Officer based in Doha, Qatar, to spearhead the investment strategy, platform development, product innovation, and capital markets operations for a fast-growing investment firm. This leadership role transcends conventional portfolio management by combining deep institutional investment expertise with robust commercial acumen.
Role and Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement comprehensive public and private market investment strategies, leading strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction across diverse asset classes.
- Advise Executive Management, Investment Committee, and the Board with well-informed investment recommendations and oversee investment policies, governance frameworks, and risk management procedures.
- Develop and launch a variety of institutional investment solutions including listed and private funds, alternative investment vehicles, separately managed accounts, co-investment platforms, structured products, and bespoke mandates.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, and Distribution teams to successfully commercialize investment offerings.
- Foster institutional capital raising by cultivating enduring relationships with sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurers, family offices, asset managers, banks, development finance institutions, and strategic partners.
- Lead the sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, valuation, negotiation, structuring, and execution of investment transactions across multiple asset classes, coordinating with external advisors as necessary.
- Establish and lead a high-performing investment team while fostering a culture of disciplined decision-making, innovation, collaboration, and commercial excellence.
- Serve as the principal investment advisor to senior management and the board, representing the firm to investors, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
Requirements and Candidate Profile
- Minimum 15 years' significant investment experience complemented by proven leadership in institutional investment management, investment banking, capital markets, private markets, or alternative investments.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields; advanced degrees such as MBA or Master’s preferred along with professional certifications like CFA or CAIA.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading multi-asset investment strategies, strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment governance, and risk management.
- Hands-on experience managing or launching listed and private investment funds, along with strong capabilities in investment product development and commercialization.
- Proficient knowledge across multiple asset classes, including but not limited to public equities, fixed income, private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, venture capital, structured products, hedge funds, and multi-asset portfolios.
- Broad sectoral investment exposure spanning financial services, infrastructure, energy, industrials, technology, healthcare, consumer sectors, real estate, aviation, logistics, and telecommunications.
- Strong commercial skills including investment origination, client engagement, institutional fundraising, strategic partnerships, and business development.
- Extensive network and experience presenting to senior executives, boards, and investment committees globally.

Previous roles held by ideal candidates may include Chief or Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Global Head of Investment Solutions or Multi-Asset, Managing Director in Investment Banking, Capital Markets or Infrastructure & Real Assets, Head of Institutional Investments, Alternatives, Product & Investment Solutions, Private Markets, Asset Management, Senior Portfolio Manager, or relevant senior leadership positions across investment domains.
