Job description

Company Overview

Social Capital is a professional community launched in 2024 by Filip Simonovski and Margaux Demeyer. It brings together communications and marketing specialists working across policy, B2B, and B2C environments. The group is built around helping people improve how they communicate, shape perception, and drive influence.

The community is designed to connect two worlds that rarely overlap: institutional policy circles and Belgium’s creative ecosystem. Through Brussels-based events, workshops, creative walks, and informal meet-ups, members exchange ideas, test new approaches, and build more effective strategies. The platform also offers a growing online presence, curated membership experiences, shared storytelling knowledge, and collaborative campaign development support.

Role Summary

The Chief Information Technology Officer is a remote, full-time leadership position accountable for setting Social Capital’s technology direction and turning that vision into execution. The role covers the full IT landscape, including infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, data handling, and the digital tools that power community engagement, events, and membership services.

This leader will identify, introduce, and improve technology solutions that make operations more efficient, strengthen the member experience, and support long-term growth. The position also includes planning and managing the IT budget, overseeing vendors and daily operations, protecting systems and data, establishing governance standards, and ensuring compliance. In addition, the CITO will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to align technology work with organizational and community priorities, while building a capable and scalable IT function.

Qualifications

  • A solid background in information technology, with practical experience managing organization-wide systems, infrastructure, and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated IT leadership experience, including managing technical teams, handling vendors, preparing budgets, and tracking performance.
  • Strong cybersecurity knowledge, covering risk evaluation, security design, incident handling, and regulatory or compliance practices.
  • Proven ability to shape and deliver IT strategies that advance business goals, digital transformation, and scalable expansion.
  • Experience running IT operations such as service delivery, cloud-based environments, system uptime, and business continuity planning.
  • Prior senior technology leadership experience at the level of CITO, CIO, CTO, or an equivalent role in a growing organization or community-driven setting.
  • Exposure to platforms and tools used for online communities, events, membership management, and analytics is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the skill to explain technical topics in practical business terms.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; an advanced degree or relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or ITIL are preferred.
