Role Summary
As Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), you will act as a senior executive providing commercial leadership and strategic financial guidance. Your responsibilities include engaging with capital markets, supporting corporate growth strategies, advising the Board, and optimizing capital allocation. You will collaborate closely with the CEO, CFO, Board, and external advisors to shape corporate strategy, evaluate funding routes, and enhance stakeholder relationships to maximize shareholder value.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic counsel to executive management and the Board on growth plans, capital allocation, partnerships, restructuring, and investment initiatives.
- Lead commercial assessment of exploration sites, development projects, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic deals.
- Contribute to annual budgeting by delivering strategic commercial assumptions, financial scenario modeling, and long-term financial planning.
- Create and manage detailed commercial financial models to evaluate funding needs, project economics, investment returns, and capital strategies.
- Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses on commodity price fluctuations, development timelines, operations, funding arrangements, and market dynamics.
- Support debt, equity, and alternative funding efforts by preparing commercial analyses, investor presentations, and transaction documentation.
- Forge and maintain robust relationships with institutional investors, investment banks, brokers, analysts, and other capital market participants.
- Prepare investor communications including presentations, Board reports, market updates, commercial assessments, and strategic recommendations.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, competitor performance, investor sentiment, and capital market activities to facilitate informed executive decisions.
- Work collaboratively with finance, operations, technical, and corporate teams to ensure commercial strategies align with operational execution.
- Ensure all commercial and investor communications comply with corporate governance and regulatory standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance commercial processes and decision-making frameworks.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Advanced qualifications such as MBA, CA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
- At least 12 years of professional experience in corporate development, investment banking, corporate finance, equities research, commercial leadership, strategy consulting, or related roles.
- Experience in mining, natural resources, metals, energy, or resource development sectors is essential.
- Proven track record of advising executive teams and Boards of Directors, especially in publicly listed companies, in strategic and commercial evaluations.
- Hands-on experience with capital raising, debt financing, corporate restructuring, M&A, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Thorough knowledge of corporate finance, valuation methodologies, capital markets, project economics, and investment analysis techniques.
- Expertise in advanced financial modeling, including complex scenario and valuation models.
- Solid grasp of public company governance, regulatory reporting, and investor relations best practices.
- Skilled in preparing Board presentations, investment memorandums, market disclosures, and strategic reporting documents.
- Strong analytical capabilities to distill complex financial, operational, and technical data into actionable commercial insights.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- High integrity, sound commercial judgment, professionalism, and executive presence.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Proficient written and verbal English communication is mandatory.
