About the Role
The Rehabilitation Assistant supports residents by carrying out prescribed therapeutic activities, maintaining and modifying equipment, and contributing to rehabilitation and support services. The role calls for familiarity with body systems, disease processes, therapeutic exercise, medical terminology, abbreviations, anatomy, and physiology. A strong alignment with the organization’s vision, mission, and values is essential.

Working Schedule
This is a 1.0 FTE full-time term role on day shifts, currently scheduled from 08:00 to 16:15.
Pay Information
Compensation follows the CUPE Collective Agreement.
Employment Terms
This assignment is for an indefinite term and may end with 1 week’s notice. Duties and working hours can be adjusted at any time based on operational needs. The posting remains open until filled.

Required Qualifications
- A Rehabilitation Assistant certificate, or advanced training/education directly connected to current occupational therapy and physiotherapy practice, including emerging health-system trends and developments in theory and technology.
- Previous experience in a long-term care or chronic care setting is preferred.
- Prior use of personal computers in a Windows-based environment.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in both French and English, where applicable.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
- Understanding of rehabilitation principles and therapeutic exercise.
- Ability to use tools to repair, modify, and adapt assistive or technological equipment.
- Capacity to work independently with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, body systems, kinesiology, and movement patterns.
- Awareness of treatment methods used in rehabilitation settings.
- Understanding of how medical conditions affect people physically and psychologically.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, electronic health records, internet, email, and MDS.
- Open to guidance and constructive feedback.
- Ability to meet the mental and physical demands of the role.
- Consistent attendance and satisfactory work history.
- Current criminal record check for the Vulnerable Sector and an Adult Abuse Registry check acceptable to the employer.
Additional Knowledge
- Familiarity with the organization’s vision, mission, values, resident rights, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
- Understanding of WHMIS requirements.
Bilingual Designation
This position is designated bilingual in French and English (AMSB and AMSV). Staff are hired for the facility, and employees may hold more than one position across different facilities as long as the combined hours do not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
