Job description

About the Opportunity

Pinnacle, which operates within The Pennant Group family, is looking for entrepreneurial leaders who have a track record of building strong teams and who are enthusiastic about the senior living sector. This full-time, salaried training path is meant to prepare high-potential leaders for future leadership of an assisted living, independent living, or memory care community.

The CEO-in-Training program usually runs for 3 to 6 months, although the exact length depends on your experience and background. Successful participants may move into leadership of an existing community or a future acquisition, with ongoing mentoring and operational backing from experienced partners.

During the program, you will receive practical exposure to operations, clinical care, and business management while learning directly from an experienced Executive Director/CEO. The role combines mentorship, cross-functional learning, and meaningful accountability in a fast-moving setting. You will build the capability to improve performance, strengthen team culture, and understand the business models that support Pennant’s growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in intensive, hands-on development across operational, care, and administrative areas.
  • Observe department leaders and front-line team members to learn how the community functions each day.
  • Own live projects and help drive improvements inside the host community.
  • Learn applicable state regulations and accepted practices for senior living operations.
  • Apply leadership and people skills in line with Pinnacle’s mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of leadership experience in any industry, along with a demonstrated ability to build and guide high-performing teams. The role requires someone who can motivate others, establish direction, and produce measurable outcomes. Candidates must be willing to complete any state licensing required during the program, and relocation may be necessary depending on available opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is preferred; an MBA, MHA, or a related qualification is considered an added advantage. Experience in operations, financial management, or business development is also beneficial, along with an entrepreneurial mindset and a service-oriented attitude.
