What the role involves
- Lead housekeeping operations on a daily basis and make sure all areas are clean, orderly, and well maintained.
- Review staffing levels so service needs, operational demands, and budget targets are all balanced effectively.
- Check room lists, expected departures, and similar information to build daily work assignments.
- Track stock levels and make sure supplies are available in the right quantities.
- Run inspection processes for guestrooms and public areas and act on any issues found.
- Keep employees supplied with the tools, equipment, and uniforms they need to do their jobs.
- Follow up with staff on attention areas and confirm instructions are understood.
- Support departmental meetings and communicate goals clearly and consistently.
- Train new room attendants using available on-the-job tools and provide follow-up coaching where needed.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with employees and encourage the same behavior across the team.
- Prepare schedules based on business needs and monitor attendance and time records.
- Make sure expectations and operating parameters are clearly understood by employees.
- Apply property policies fairly, including disciplinary steps and required documentation.
- Observe service behavior, give feedback, and support employee recognition across all shifts.
- Gather employee feedback, use open-door communication, and review satisfaction results to address concerns.
- Take part in progressive discipline processes and interviews for suitable new hires.
- Lead by example in guest relations and help create strong service recovery plans when needed.
- Handle guest issues and complaints, and work to keep improving service performance.
Candidate profile
The employer is looking for someone with at least 3 years of housekeeping or closely related professional experience. Acceptable education paths include either a high school diploma/GED or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a similar field, combined with the same experience requirement.
