Role overview

WSP India is looking for a junior-to-intermediate Civil Designer/CAD Technician to join its GCC India team. The role supports infrastructure and utilities design work across Bengaluru, Noida, and Mumbai, contributing to the delivery of high-quality CAD outputs for complex civil and wet utilities projects.

What you will do

  • Support CAD deliverables for civil and structural infrastructure projects, including sewer and watermain systems, pumping stations, treatment facilities, recycled water schemes, dams, and desalination plants.
  • Prepare A drawings, piping layouts, and process drawings in line with WSP CAD standards.
  • Contribute to the utilities infrastructure CAD team on wet utilities work such as wastewater sewage pumping stations and municipal water management structures, following WSP Australia CAD requirements.
  • Create conceptual sketches and detailed construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and Advance Steel, including pipe networks, profiles, alignments, assemblies, subassemblies, 3D feature lines, and grading groups.
  • Use Autodesk Vault within the common data environment to support WSP Digital Engineering requirements and comply with ISO19650 and ISO27001 expectations.
  • Check drawings against client drafting standards, Australian standards, and any other applicable local or federal regulations.
  • Carry out CAD tasks assigned by the CAD Manager and Engineers.
  • Prepare material take-offs, quantity take-offs, and support underground utility coordination.
  • Manage several tasks and projects at once while estimating effort and timelines accurately.
  • Apply and help improve quality assurance procedures so that deliverables remain consistent and accurate.
  • Ensure models, schedules, design data, and drawings are properly issued and stored in the correct locations according to WSP standards.
  • Embed health and safety considerations into daily work practices and remain safety-conscious at all times.
  • Keep technical capability current by learning new tools, methods, and emerging technologies that strengthen modelling and drafting performance.
  • Support sustainability goals by encouraging future-ready design approaches and alternative design technologies that improve environmental outcomes.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Build knowledge across disciplines, including structural and civil requirements, and reflect those requirements accurately in models and drawings.
  • Follow WSP corporate processes, including timely and accurate timesheet submission and completion of ethics-related training.
  • Maintain strong working relationships, support client satisfaction, and contribute to knowledge sharing across internal and external forums.
  • Stay informed about market trends and competitor activity.
  • Take ownership of project work with a strong focus on timeliness, quality, and technical excellence.
  • Work collaboratively across cultures and disciplines, support innovation, and contribute to team performance.
  • Promote safety by design, help meet commercial goals, uphold technical quality, mentor others on shared systems, and look for ways to improve value, performance, and project outcomes.

Experience and qualifications

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A diploma or degree in Civil, Water, or a related discipline is expected.
  • Experience with utilities water pipeline projects such as potable water mains from DN50 to DN1200, pumping stations, reservoirs, water sampling stations, bulk metering systems, and chemical dosing systems is needed.
  • Experience with wastewater and recycled water pipeline projects, including gravity sewers, rising mains, pumping stations, emergency storage systems, and odour control units, is required.
  • Background in Australian or New Zealand projects will be considered an added advantage.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills are essential.
  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Advance Steel, Revit, Navisworks, Vault, and BIM 360 is expected.
