Role overview
WSP is looking for a Junior to intermediate Civil Designer to join its GCC India team and support civil and structural CAD delivery for infrastructure projects. The position is based in India and contributes to projects across water, wastewater, and other utilities infrastructure work.
What you will do
- Support CAD deliverables for civil and structural infrastructure work, including sewer and water mains, pumping stations, treatment plants, recycled water systems, dams, desalination plants, and related drawing packages such as A drawings, piping layouts, and process drawings, aligned to WSP CAD standards.
- Assist the utilities infrastructure CAD team with wet utilities deliverables, including wastewater sewage pumping stations and municipal water management structures, in line with WSP Australia CAD requirements.
- Prepare conceptual sketches as well as detailed construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and Advance Steel, covering pipe networks, profiles, alignments, assemblies and subassemblies, 3D feature lines, and grading groups, while maintaining high accuracy and quality.
- Work with Autodesk Vault as part of the common data environment, following WSP Digital Engineering standards that support ISO 19650 and ISO 27001 compliance.
- Check drawings against client drafting standards, Australian Standards, and other applicable local and federal requirements.
- Carry out CAD assignments as instructed by the CAD Manager and Engineer.
- Handle material take-offs, quantity take-offs, and coordination of underground utilities.
- Manage several tasks and projects at once, with the ability to estimate effort and time required for each scope of work.
- Apply and maintain quality assurance processes, and actively support improvements to those QA practices.
- Ensure models, drawings, schedules, and design data are issued and stored in the correct locations according to WSP procedures.
- Embed health and safety into day-to-day work and remain alert to safety responsibilities even outside working hours.
- Keep building technical capability by learning, evaluating, and adapting new tools and techniques to improve drafting and modelling.
- Support sustainable design thinking and help project teams consider alternate design technologies that improve environmental outcomes.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to collaborative delivery.
- Stay open to learning new software and cross-discipline concepts, including structural and civil requirements, and apply them in drawings and models.
- Follow corporate policies, including accurate timesheet submission and completion of required ethics training.
- Maintain strong working relationships, support client satisfaction, and share knowledge in internal and external forums.
- Stay informed about market conditions and competitor activity.

Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience.
- A diploma or degree in Civil, Water, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with utilities water pipeline projects, such as potable water supply mains from DN50 to DN1200, pumping stations, reservoirs, water sampling stations, bulk metering systems, and chemical dosing systems.
- Experience with utilities wastewater and recycled water pipeline projects, including gravity sewers, rising mains of different sizes and materials, pumping stations, emergency storage systems, and odor control units.
- Experience on projects in Australia or New Zealand will be considered an advantage.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Advance Steel, Revit, Navisworks, Vault, and BIM 360.
- Ability to review drawings carefully and work to multiple drafting and technical standards.
- Capability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and schedule discipline.
