Overview
As a Buyer for the Baby category, you will collaborate with diverse vendors to curate a product assortment optimized for both in-store and online channels. Your role involves managing broad SKU portfolios, crafting localized product mix decisions, and acting as a brand steward to meet market demands. This position encourages cross-team collaboration, requiring both instinctive market sense and creativity to drive category success.
Responsibilities
The Buyer plays a central role in fostering omni-channel growth by planning profitable and locally tailored assortments. Leveraging deep understanding of guest behavior, competitive landscape, and assortment needs, you will lead negotiations and vendor partnerships to identify market opportunities and close gaps. You will analyze financial data to develop actionable strategies, support cross-functional team leadership, and collaborate with product designers, category managers, and partners across merchandising, pricing, and planning to align promotional and sourcing initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of a four-year degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in merchandising or related fields.
- Proven strategic thinking and analytical ability for business growth.
- Effective collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams.
- Adaptability and resilience in handling fluid, undefined, and evolving business scenarios.
Work Arrangement
This role functions under a hybrid/flexible work model requiring both onsite presence at Target's Minneapolis, MN headquarters and remote work aligned with role duties and team needs. Work must be conducted within the US unless otherwise authorized.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $73,000 to $132,000 annually. Compensation is influenced by factors such as labor market, education, experience, and certifications.
