Role Overview

We are seeking a Buyer to join our Procurement Team, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to outstanding patient care through efficient purchasing, contract management, and supplier collaboration. The Procurement Team strategizes and delivers commercial plans that optimize value for the organisation’s non-pay spend. Operating across various medical, surgical, corporate, and support services, the team guarantees access to necessary goods and services for delivering exceptional care. By enhancing efficiency, managing supplier relations, and securing cost-effectiveness, Procurement actively supports NHS Golden Jubilee's broader goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Create purchase orders based on authorised requisitions while ensuring accuracy and obtaining the best possible value.
• Locate goods and services in cases where supplier details are not pre-existing.
• Assess product consumption and identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
• Engage in negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable pricing and contract terms.
• Advise customers on procurement best practices and compliance.
• Maintain supplier relationships and review their performance against agreed service standards.
• Resolve invoice issues promptly in coordination with suppliers.
• Manage consignment stock adhering to supplier agreements.
• Assist the Procurement Team Manager and senior staff with various procurement initiatives.
• Handle returns and replacements for damaged or unsuitable goods.
• Guide and mentor junior procurement team members daily.
• Keep detailed records and documentation concerning procurement transactions.
• Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Document savings realized through negotiations and product rationalisation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and customer-oriented, adept at managing priorities, making informed decisions, and maintaining accuracy under pressure. A collaborative team player eager to contribute positively to the Procurement Team and wider organisation is sought.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of CIPS Level 2 qualification or an equivalent credential.
• Experience in procurement and contract management.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic procurement systems.
• Competence in negotiating and managing contracts across diverse goods and services.
• A dedication to delivering quality services, continuous improvement, and value for money.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
