Role Overview
We are collaborating with a prominent global medical device company to find a Business Unit Head for Southeast Asia. This senior regional leadership role entails directing the strategy, fostering growth, and overseeing commercial performance for a portfolio including surgical devices, consumables, and interventional cardiology products throughout Southeast Asia.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the Southeast Asia commercial strategy consistent with broader regional and global directives.
- Assume accountability for revenue generation, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and overall business results.
- Oversee commercial operations spanning multiple countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, and Myanmar.
- Spot and pursue growth chances across surgical and interventional product lines.
- Lead and mentor both regional and country-level commercial teams.
- Manage and optimize relationships with distributors, including performance evaluations, business planning, and market expansion.
- Champion new product introductions, market development projects, and expansion of the product portfolio.
- Establish and maintain strong ties with surgeons, interventional cardiologists, hospital leadership, procurement professionals, and key opinion leaders.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, clinical affairs, regulatory, market access, supply chain, and financial teams.
- Ensure full compliance of all commercial initiatives with company policies, industry norms, and local regulations.
Candidate Profile
- Over 10 years of advancing commercial experience in sales and marketing within medical devices or healthcare, specifically in Southeast Asia.
- Extensive expertise with surgical devices, consumables, and/or interventional cardiology products.
- Proven track record overseeing commercial operations in at least three Southeast Asian countries—this is essential.
- Demonstrated success in regional leadership roles such as business leadership, sales management, business development, or general management.
- Experience managing both direct sales teams and distributor-driven markets.
- Strong commercial insight and financial acumen, preferably with regional P&L responsibility.
- History of achieving revenue growth, market development, and enhanced commercial performance.
- Good understanding of hospital selling environments, operating room workflows, and cardiac catheterization lab operations.
- Excellent leadership across cultures, strong communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in English, with strong presentation skills; knowledge of additional Southeast Asian languages is a plus.
- Preferably based in or willing to relocate to Singapore, Thailand, or Malaysia.
